Woven labels

In Etiart we have electronic jackard looms to manufacture custom fabrics of high definition, with a maximum width of 150 cm, and without limit of length. This, together with the use of threads of different materials and finishes, allows us to offer resistant and durable fabrics of different qualities and textures, ideal for the production of woven labels, mainly used in the textile industries.
Combined with the large range of finishes we can offer for labels (folded, with adhesives, laser cut, etc.), Etiart has been a benchmark in the woven label sector for more than 25 years, both for large customers in the world of Clothing, as for small traders, artisans or fashion designers concerned with the small details that differentiate and define their products and their brands.

Below you can find information about the main types of labels and finishings we can offer, although we always recommend you to let us advice you, depending on your needs.

High density labels

Through high density, we can get the best possible quality of labels. With this fabric, we are able to reproduce details with great quality, such as tiny text or complex drawings that require great definition. In addition, it also allows us to obtain solid colors both at the bottom of the label and in the drawings.

A peculiarity of this type of fabric is that when only two colors are used, it is possible to make labels that both front and back have the same finish, one side being the negative of the other.

In addition to labels, thanks to high definition, we can make other products, such as bracelets, patches or woven fabrics of great quality and detail.

One of the many things that can be manufacture with our looms are ribbons of any desired width and length as, for example, bracelets for parties or events.

We can serve these ribbons both in roll, or already cut to the desired length.

Tubular labels

The tubular labels are in fact two fabrics that are partially or totally tied together, when manufactured simultaneously on the loom, and which form the two sides of the same label.

In this way, we can have two sides on the same label, with the same or different designs, as we desire.

This is interesting when the label is going to be seen on both sides, and we do not want it to be folded in the center, for example, in zipper handles, or in filled labels (we leave the central part of both sides unattached between them, and fill them with thread), giving volume to the label.

Another thing we can do with our looms, are badges and patches, cut by precision laser with the shape you want.

The difference of our badges and woven patches with respect to the traditional embroideries is that, in our case, the drawing is formed when weaving the fabric, and is not added later on. Thus, we can make designs more intricate, with greater details and definition than an embroidery. This opens new doors for designers to let their imagination run wild and create more elaborate designs.

Woven edge labels

This type of label is not longitudinally cut in order to achieve the width desired, but instead its edges are also woven as the label is produced, directly on the loom.

This makes these edges much smoother and avoid the annoying sensation of itching on clothing, especially on shirt collars, or areas where friction occurs.

In addition, these labels are made with satin warp yarn, giving the label a shiny and silky look, and the texts have more intense colors.

On the other hand, we are limited to manufacture labels with a raw background color, and subject to a maximum width of 15 mm.

This type of label is usually used in delicate garments, where you want to add a soft, silky-looking label and high quality detail.

In our online store we offer the opportunity to design and order directly your woven edges labels.

Taffeta labels

Taffeta labels are characterized mainly by having a very low thread density, which, in turn, makes the labels cheaper. This type of label can be used in cases where drawings, texts or colors do not require great definition or detail.

However, usually the entire taffeta label is figure covered, in order to obtain a higher density of threads, and therefore higher quality. You can even make a double pass through certain areas of the label to get a relief effect.

You can use up to 7 colors, plus the background color.

The material used is polyester.

In addition to the type of fabric or quality selected for your labels, you can also choose different types of finishes, depending on the needs and use of the label.

Here are the main types of finishes we can offer:

The labels can be folded in many different ways:

Middle folding

The labels can be folded in half, either centered or not. In this way, you can get two sides for the same label.

Sides folding

You can fold the ends of the labels in several ways:

The longitudinal folding is usually interesting in order to improve the smoothness of the label and avoid rough edges, while the folding of the lateral ends is also used to sew the label to the garment.

The distance to fold is customizable.

The Mitra consists of folding both side ends at a 90 ° angle. Normally this finish is used for labels on the inner collars of jackets.

Labels can also be folded and edge sealed by ultrasonics, creating sack or envelope shapes (Manhattan).

The appearance of this type of finish is the highest quality, as it gives the label more body and a smooth finish on all sides.

The envelope finish can be used to hold the replacement buttons.

On the labels, you can add different add-ons:

A thermo-adhesive layer can be applied on the back of the label. To fix the label it is necessary to apply heat (ironing). This type of adhesive is the most durable and permanent we can offer.

This double-sided adhesive is not intended to permanently affix the label to a surface. It is poorly resistant, and can normally be removed without difficulty from the garment without damaging it.

It is used to ease positioning of the label during sewing.

It can be applied on both sides of the label, both in its entirety and in stripes according to personal need.

Felt reinforcement

To achieve a finish with more body or stiffness, or to improve the strength of the fabric, a backing material can be applied to the back side of the label.

Usually used in badges or patches, and woven ribbons.

To achieve greater consistency and stiffness in the labels (effect of carting), they can be given a stiffness finish.

It may be interesting on low density labels or woven hanging labels.
